I know some of you will say its a bit too early for this review but i happened to find his EX stats from a battle in Faction Wars. Today im going to review our favourite Klassic Lizard belonging to the Realm of Outworld!. Klassic Reptile is the star of the show. Lets check out what this powerful Outworld kard has to offer! KLR is his abbriviation.
Lets get started......................
Reptile originally made his debut back when MK1 was released in the arcades as an unplayable hidden opponent. He was Palette Swap of Sub-Zero and Scorpion and he possessed all of their special moves. At the start of a single player match, he would occasionally appear on screen with a hint on how to find him to battle him. These hints range from " Look to La Luna " to " Alone is how you find me ". The strategy on how to fight him was very cleverly thought of and it successfully enticed players into spending their quarters which in turn generated extremely high revenue for the Arcade holder and at the company at the time Midway .
To fight him in MK1, Silhouettes would have to appear in the background of The Pit stage ( this only happens once in every 6 times the Pit stage appears in the stage rotation ), NO BLOCKING, a double Flawless Victory and a Fatality had to be performed. Upon meeting the requirements the phrase " YOU HAVE FOUND ME !" appears. (sound familiar?) . The player would be taken to the bottom of the Pit stage and upon beating him in a battle, 10 million points would be awarded to the player.
Now he makes his eagerly anticipated and satisfying return in MKX Mobile via update 1.18 so lets move on shall we?
How to obtain: KLR is only available as a Quest Mode exclusive. Reptile Eyes appear in Quest Mode as potential prizes for successfully completing quests and these are needed to fight him on The Pit stage and obtain him. The higher the fusion, the more eyes it takes to build his meter to 100%. Only then, he will appear to the player. However this only happens for one week, every 4-5 weeks. DO NOT spend your souls on any packs as he is NOT available in them!. You have been warned.
Power Gen: 130%
Maxed Stats: (With all Support kards maxed out. W/O any stat boosting gear)
Power Gen: 130%
Passive: Pure Toxin
Whenever opponents tag-in, there is a 60% chance they become Poisoned (even when Reptile is tagged-out or defeated). All Outworld Characters on Reptile's team have 60% Critcial Chance Hit against enemies affected by Poison and have immunity to Poison .
Since he is a diamond kard, his Poison and Critical Chance Hit against Poisoned enemies can be upgraded from 60% to 80%.
First of all, a huge WOW to his passive. It is absolutely fantastic in terms of whittling opponents health down over time although it does come with its drawbacks. If Dark Raiden becomes Poisoned by any means including by KLRs passive, he will heal automatically. If the opponent has debuff resistant gear or Talents, then his passive will be affected by the amount of chance. If KLR is teamed with an all OW team and they face an all opponent OW team with KLR on it then his passive is rendered null and void simply because the opponents are immune to Poison when teamed with KLR.
Special 1: Chameleon Charge (Medium Damage + Poison)
KLR turns invisible and he seems to slash the opponent in the process. He then spits acid towards the opponent and he re-appears afterwards. They then become Poisoned.
Special 2: Swamp Grab (Grapple + Unblockable) (High Damage + Poison)
KLR grabs the opponent by his two hands and briefly lifts them off the ground. Then he proceeds to vomit acid all over the opponents head. This Poisons the opponent and he immediately slams them into the ground with extreme force afterwards.
X-Ray: Extinction Event (Extreme Damage + Heal)
KLR shoulder barges the opponent and grabs their head with his two hands. He twists the head and lower jaw in opposite directions and this causes the lower jaw to completely break. Afterwards he jams his two thumbs into the opponents skull and bursts their eyeballs. He slams them into the ground skull first and this shatters their skull completely. After all of this, KLR and his team will begin to Heal.
This is KLR's signature equipment and it greatly aids him in combat even when maxed out as pictured here. Also this particular equipment is for all Reptile variations aswell. Meaning any variation of Reptile will gain all 3 effects of the Saurian Armor.
Having KLR first out on your team is absolutely the right thing to do. His combos are very quick and they have excellent frame recovery. He has two combo enders, one of them ends with his Forceball that pushes the opponent away from him and the other one ends in a WWE style dropkick that also pushes the opponent away from him.
If he is setup with the right equipment, KLR can finish opponents in a matter of seconds. Although at this moment in time he can only be legitimately fused to E3, his SP2 is powerful enough to K.O E7 Golds/Diamonds and leave EX Golds/Diamonds with around 30 - 40% health.
In most matches, he can solo the entire enemy team and he needs very little assistance if things go wrong. Also, his combos are long enough that he can gain power in a relatively short period of time. Having him teamed with DoTDK and Saurian Armor equipped will make him a healing tank especially when his X-Ray K.Os the opponent. Overall, he is an excellent attacker on any team but he really shines when he is on a full OW team. If you are defensive or offensive, it doesnt matter because he excels either way.
Since at this time he can only be fused to E3 legitimately, i will recommend the following setup. Of course all of this can change on higher fusions but the choice is yours.
The reason for this specific setup is because the Sacrificial Knife and Killer Wasp gives him a 50% Basic Damage boost and 25% damage boost against enemies with Bleed and Poison respectively. Also, the Shadow Sash decreases Special Attack and X-Ray damage by 20% when maxed out. Team him with RM to increase DoT effects by 100% for maximum satisfaction.
Teammates and Synergy:
Klassic Sub-Zero and Klassic Ermac / Klassic Scorpion for pure UMK3 nostalgia only
VDV and KE suggested by . This is more for VDV dealing crazy damage via Poison, Fire (BLF only) and Soul Siphon
DoTDK and KG for 20% extra attack and healing
MK makes an excellent teammate for 1 extra power bar. This enables KLR to start with an X-Ray (Maxed Bloody Tomahawk and Wrath Hammer required)
KKN and PM are also good teammates. This team consists of Stun, Bleed, Snare, Fire and Poison. Lots of debuffs to humiliate the opposition
RM and WDV for pure 100% boosted poison damage and permanent poison if WDV K.Os an opponent with one of her Specials. KLR will virtually deal only Critical Damage
These are only a few suggestions so its time to use your imagination peeps! :)
Lion Stance: 5% basic attack boost
Thunderous Blows: 26% Special 2 damage
Reptile Instruction: 20% Poison damage boost
Unbridled Savagery: 30% Unblockable damage boost
D'vorah's Wraith: Special damage increased by 15% against victims suffering from poison
Stranglehold: 15% basic attack damage boost against enemies suffering from a DOT
Mongoose stance: 22% Recovery boost
There is nothing really i can say about his downfalls other than his Passive is susceptable to Debuff reducing gear or Talents.
I rate KLR a 9.5 out of 10 . Honestly guys, the only thing that lets him down is Debuff reducing stuff lowering the chance of Poisoning opponents. Other than that, he is a 100% solid OW fighter and is certainly welcome to anyones kollection.
Until next time ;) ...............
