This is a new player's guide for people who want to make their account strong, in a shortened period of time.
If you're the kind of player that likes a lot of pluralism on your roster and your fights or you feel like a collector and you just "gotta catch them all", please don't follow this guide because the suggested strategy might be a little boring for you and there are characters that you might never aquire.
I haven't spend any real money on the game, so although there are some spending suggestions, i'm not recommending any.
This whole account-evolving strategy moves around one main principal:
"DO NOT BUY ANY SOUL PACKS"
As the game progresses you might find it convenient to buy one or two, but keep this principal in mind all the time.
Let me elaborate a little on this principal. (Bare with me😅)
Gambling on the soul-packs, although a lot cheaper, has three (3) main disadvantages:
1. You don't choose the character that you get. (The character that comes out of the pack might not be what you want at all. He/she might not fit on your roster or you just might not like him/her as a character). So there they go 150/320/360 souls down the toilet..
2. If you get a character that you like and you haven't unlocked him/her in your store, you won't be able to directly fuse. So you'll be condemned to either wait until his/her challenge gets a rerun or buy more packs and get a bunch of other characters you won't ever use.
3. Last but not least, the sellbacks!
All characters when they're maxed (fused to EVII) are auto-sold back to the store at a price of 30-40 souls. This means that for every single sellback that you get, you throw away a very large amount of hard-earned souls.
Gambling also has one main principal: "The house always wins"
The downside of course if you follow this method you'll have to accept the fact that you'll might never get your hands on Exclusive Characters.
Say bye-bye to SOSC, RJV, SJV, COCC, AK, SMKL and ALL the diamonds (WQC is available for direct fusion in the NR pack).
Say also bye-bye to all the passed challenge characters until their challenge gets a rerun.
The upside is that you can 100% arrange the teams that you possess, you can set their fusion to the level you want, you'll be able to directly fuse the challenge characters of your taste once you unlock them in your store and finally in the long-term (without wasting any souls) you can create a large soul repository for you to invest the way you like.
After this super-extended prologue (and if you're still reading 😀) let's move on to the guide..
First of all, some general guidelines:
1. Login every day!
It's very important. The first time you login every day you get a Test your luck (TYL) mini-game. The TYL can grant you koins, souls, level-up cards, equipment, support cards and after some time of continuous logins a chance of getting three gold characters (Injustice Scorpion, Undercover Cassie Cage and Cybernetic Jaqui Briggs), two exclusive Silver (Farmer Jax Briggs and Klassic Kitana) and one exclusive bronze (Ninja Mime Johnny Cage)
2. Complete your daily objectives every day! They are easy to accomplish and they'll give you gold koins and 18 souls every day. They're a great soul income (180 souls every 10 days) and your basic soul income as you start playing.
3. For every fight you have on the battle towers on which you select an ally to help you, you'll be getting alliance koins (silver). These points can buy the alliance pack.
This pack grants almost the same stuff with the TYL (no koins or souls, no TYL characters in there). Alliance koins are pretty easy to get when you're a newcomer and you'll be tempted to spend them all, every time you'll have some.
DON'T! As your account grows you'll be playing less and less on the Towers which means you'll be getting short in alliance points. Complete your daily objective of buying two every day and keep the rest so you can save your self of the explicit boredom of having to grind for these 1000 alliance koins every day
in the future.
4. Save your level up cards!
I'm not talking about the special level-ups, i referring to the cards that level up your characters. Characters level up by experience points which they aquire by fighting. Every level needs progressively more experience than the previous one to get to. Gold characters need more experience to level up than silvers and bronzes, so it's better to save your level up cards to get a gold character from (let's say) lvl 49 to lvl 50 than to level up a bronze one from lvl5 to lvl6 because the first case needs a lot of fighting and the second one needs 1 fight..😀
5. Be patient.
Don't throw away your resources to make things faster. The only way to do that is to spend money. Don't waste energy on difficult fights that you'll probably lose. After the first 2-3 weeks you'll be regretting a lot of purchases if you start buying everything that's offered.
As you begin to play, you'll be getting three random bronze characters and one free Kard pack with a random Silver character (i'll be talking about the Kard pack extensively later on).
Try to get as many gold koins as possible with what you have and do ONE thing:
Start fusing Silver KENSHI!
Kenshi(75k Gold koins) is going to be your main companion for a long time.
His passive makes him (when he's maxed) equivalent to an E4-E5 gold character.
He'll walk you through almost every challenge on both modes, he'll get you high on both battle towers and the Shao Kahn tower and most importantly he'll give you lots of Faction war points in Faction wars (FW)
(i'll be talking separately for these occasions afterwards)
With the Gold koins you earn, max out ONE bronze character of your taste.
( ONE maxed bronze character is all you need to make all challenges a walk in the park on both normal and hard mode on the first challenge tower where bronzes are needed)
The KARD PACKS
After you've completed the suggestions above, you'll be walking into the Kard Pack (KP) era.
KP costs 30k Gold koins and it gives two (2) random kards
(special upgrades, lvl-up kards, support kards and most importantly common and uncommon equipment)
and a random Silver character.
The hidden feature of this pack is that it gives you a chance to obtain 3 gold characters:
A-list Johnny Cage
Spend every koin you get on this pack
It's the key to building up your roster. Pair the silvers it gives you with KENSHI (Martial artists and Spec Ops) and start grinding like crazy on all modes.
Until you fuse your characters a little bit, try to only use them with KENSHI. Because of the much greater experience they'll get, due to the stronger fights, they will reach lvl50 much faster. Feed KENSHI some souls to renew his energy, change his teammates and go on. (Don't feed KENSHI more souls than you can afford, i'd suggest five each day - ten if this can get you to champion rank in FW)
About the goldies..
Some things out of my experience with the KP:
1. I got a copy of one of the golds in there aprox every 600-800k of Gold koins.
2. There were some time periods of the day that (i think) i had higher chance of getting a gold card. Experiment a little bit and try to find those periods.
3. Try to save 200-400k of koins and do mega-openings. I had higher chances of getting a gold card when doing this, than spending whenever i reached 30k
4. To give you a time frame, I maxed out those three after six months of playing the game. (It may seem like a lot but bare in mind that you still get to use them even if they're not maxed 😀)
After you've maxed your golds you can continue to buy the Kard pack so that you can trade some of your gold with souls (the golds are sold back as souls) or you can proceed with buying the Equipment pack to upgrade your Equipment
The Battle Towers
You'll be obliged to grind there a little bit cause of the daily objectives.
Try to get as far as your roster gets you easy wins. DON'T waste energy and time on hard fights that aren't a sure win.
After some time you'll be able to destroy everyone on those towers with a few punches.
If you reach a tower that you can't easily beat, stop and do your grinding on the previous ones.
The Shao Kahn tower
Here applies the same rule with the battle towers.
Don't waste your time on unbeatable fights.
You'll eventually beat the tower and then you'll beat it again and again and again.
Give it time.
And for your own good, don't waste a single soul on renewing the waiting time!
Challenges are your only way of aquiring the characters that are offered and also unlocking them on your store.
Try to complete at least the normal mode at all costs
If the fourth tower requirements are too expensive for you to accomplish, buy your way through it and skip the fights (it costs Gold koins)
On the fifth tower, fights cost souls for you to skip them. So don't!
Fulfill the requirements which are having a specific character on your team (some required a specific Gold character)
Buy the character that the challenge needs. It's money well spent.
(Wait for a while after the challenge is up. Most of the times there's gonna be a discount on the challenge requirements)
FW is where your main effort should be centered. There's where you'll get the most out of your characters.
It doesn't matter how weak they are, team them up and fight.
Use KENSHI as much as you can with your roster and when you're done, start playing with the rest.
Kenshi will grant you more Gold, more experience and more FW points when your other characters will be weak.
If you can make it easily, do only hard ladders. (If you can't, don't try. On your grinding days, you're better off with not losing any fight, everything counts)
Try to get to at least the Kontender ranks at the beginning and try to reach the champion rank when your roster allows you to.
Since you're not buying the equipment pack, FW is your only option to get Rare and Epic equipment.
Collect your Blood rubies and every time you get to 1600 buy a character. (Since your gold card collection will be pretty limited at the beginning, start with characters and not Equipment)
I strongly suggest to choose a character from FW store and fuse him/her until at least E5 before buying anything else.(you're gonna need strong characters for completing your challenges and the Shao Kahn tower, having few strong characters is better than having many weak ones- personally i always follow this rule but it's a matter of taste)
I also strongly suggest for this character to be either Dark Emperor Liu Kang or Klassic Scorpion. They're better than the other two imo.
You can use the character you chose with two of the kard pack golds that you have.
This was my first all gold team.
They can rock the FW, they never disappointed me and they cost ZERO souls.
This is where my guide stops. Some of the things mentioned in here i did and some i didn't do but i'd do them if i had to start all over again. From my first days playing i followed its main principal.
If you make it this far, you will have probably figured out by yourself what you want to do next
Hope the reading wasn't really boring😄
Some last notes
Don't waste Gold koins on upgrading specials of the characters that you don't use (you'll end up with a bunch of special-upgrade cards that you won't know what to do with)
Also don't upgrade the special 3 pf your silver characters at the beginning.(unlock it and leave it there)
Silver Cassie Cage is also a great character and equivalent to kenshi but her passive demands her mommy and daddy to be with her. So she can't be used for the purposes of this strategy
If you want to spend real money, it's better to do your purchases at your account's early stages cause it will give you the chance to evolve even faster.
Choose the ice starter pack over the fire one
IFS sucks 😁
(GMSZ is much better than IFS in my opinion). Choose Early Access Packs (EAP) over souls when you're buying. Wait for offers when you want to spend! They come frequently, just wait for them.
Try not to fuse every gold character that you possess.
Try them out, see who fits you and build a team around them.
Set distant goals regarding fusions so that you waste the minimum amount of souls.
If you really want to spend some souls cause you want something new or you're just tired of saving, buy/fuse this guy:
Stunt Double Johnny Cage.
He's CHEAP, fast and versatile, he'll go great with Silver KENSHI and even if you end up with a crazy strong roster, he'll always fit somewhere.
Don't buy Cutthroat Kano!
Do yourself this favour and don't!
Have a nice ride😎
